Pittsburgh Adult Entertainment: Book Review: Give Us Liberty: A Tea Party Manifesto by Dick Armey and Matt Kibbe
September 1, 2010
Subtitled an arguably inaccurate “A Tea Party Manifesto” Give Us Liberty is Dick Armey and the advocacy organization FreedomWorks’ DC-based view of the Tea Party movement so far. It’s a book that never fails to retell FreedomWorks’ role in almost everything that ever happened in the Tea Party movement. There are glaring omissions as you would expect from a DC-centric book about the Tea Party movement.
While its nice to read Armey and Kibbe pay tribute to the hard-working employees of FreedomWorks, the constant pimping does rather spoil the pace of the book. There are some glaring omissions from the book, like no mention of the initial call that kicked off the first load of events in February 2009. Or the fact that people met and organised this via Twitter and the Top Conservatives on Twitter (TCOT) feed. There is little mention of Tea Party Patriots despite the fact that they co-hosted the 9/12 March in 2009 and are hosting two events this 9/12.
