Pittsburgh Strip Clubs: ‘Dance Moms’ showgirls episode a playground for pedophiles, experts warn

… Dance Moms’ showgirls episode a playground for pedophiles, experts warn
PITTSBURGH — Lifetime’s reality series “Dance Moms,” which follows young girls training at the Abby Lee Dance Company in Pittsburgh, is being ripped for its latest episode involving the child dancers wearing costumes that simulate nudity.
Tuesday night’s episode, titled “Topless Showgirls,” featured girls as young as eight performing a sexually charged, provocative showgirl-like routine in a local dance competition, donning barely-there sparkly flesh-colored bras and panties to give the illusion of nudity.
“All the girls and I feel kind of nervous because we feel kind of naked,” one of the dancers said prior to taking the stage.
Psychological experts and parents groups that spoke to FOXNews.com were up-in-arms over the stripper-esque theme, and fear that the episode could act as encouragement for pedophiles and sexual predators.

Pittsburgh Strip Clubs: Scott Township Man Charged With Date Rape

A 34-year-old woman told investigators she went out with friends on June 30, 2011, and ran into Duran while at the Club Erotica strip club in McKees Rocks. She said she recognized Duran because they went to Chartiers Valley High School together, and she ordered a rum and Coke.
She left her drink briefly and came back to the table where she was sitting with Duran. But about 15 minutes later, she began feeling groggy and started blacking out, according to a criminal complaint filed by Scott police.
Police said Duran took her out of the strip club and then drove the woman in her vehicle back to his home. Police said he then raped her while she was unconscious, although she awoke at one point and told police she saw him on top of her.

Pittsburgh Strip Clubs: Congress Passes Payroll Tax Cut Deal

Under the terms of the deal, in states with unemployment rates higher than the national average of 8.3%, the maximum time an unemployed person can receive benefits will drop from 99 to 73 weeks. The maximum length of benefits for people in states with an average unemployment rate or lower will drop to 63 weeks or as far down as 40 weeks.
The jobless have been able to collect up to 99 weeks of benefits since November 2009 as part of the nation’s unprecedented response to the recession.
In addition, states will be allowed to perform drug tests on individuals applying for unemployment benefits if those people lost their previous job because they either failed or refused an employer’s drug test. Individuals receiving unemployment assistance could also be tested if they are seeking a job that generally requires a drug test.
Also, welfare beneficiaries will be banned from accessing public assistance funds at ATMs in strip clubs, liquor stores, and casinos.

Pittsburgh Strip Clubs: House speaker says payroll tax bill won’t add jobs

Unless Congress acts, the tax cut and added jobless benefits would expire, and doctors’ Medicare payments would be reduced, all on March 1.
In a GOP win, the bill would phase down the current maximum 99 weeks of jobless coverage to 73 weeks in the hardest-hit states by autumn, though in most states, people would get no more than 63 weeks.
Besides increasing new federal workers’ pension contributions, more savings were supposed to come from government sales of parts of the broadcast spectrum to wireless companies. The spectrum auction was supposed to raise about $15 billion — even after $7 billion would be spent for a new communications network for emergency workers.
The government’s main welfare program would be continued through this year. Republicans won a provision barring welfare recipients from using their electronic cards to withdraw cash from teller machines in liquor stores, strip clubs and casinos.

Pittsburgh Strip Clubs: House-Senate deal reached on payroll tax measure

But in states with particularly high unemployment, such as Rhode Island and Nevada, the measure is actually more generous over the next few months than current law.
Negotiators also dropped House-passed language that would have forced low-income people to have Social Security numbers in order to get government checks by claiming the children’s tax credit, a move that was aimed at illegal immigrants and caused a furor among many Hispanics.
Republicans also dropped a proposal requiring unemployed people to seek high school equivalency degrees to obtain benefits. But a GOP provision requiring jobless people to be more diligent in job searches as a condition of receiving benefits was included.
The measure also would prevent welfare recipients from using their electronic benefits cards to withdraw money at ATMs in strip clubs, casinos and liquor stores.

Pittsburgh Strip Clubs: Syfy show contestant Beki Ingram gives the Pop Diva a zombie makeover

The 1996 horror comedy written by Quentin Tarantino (who penned the script based on Kurtzman’s story) stars Harvey Keitel, Juliette Lewis and a still-small-potatoes George Clooney, trapped in a roadhouse with vampire strippers.
Sick of “the traffic and the fires and the earthquakes and the floods” on the West Coast, Kurtzman packed up his wife and two young children and moved back to Crestline, known for producing football coaches, not horror-movie producers. To launch Creature Corps, he gutted and rebuilt the bowling alley where he used to go as a kid.
“I like living in a small town,” he says. “I like to ride my bike to work.”
Ingram, who migrated from Columbus, a moth to Kurtzman’s creative flame, is a five-minute cycle ride from the studio, too, though the bucolic burg — serene as Walden Pond, she says — isn’t exactly the place the up-and-coming effects artist imagined she’d land. “I mean, Hobby Lobby is our biggest art store,” she says.

Pittsburgh Strip Clubs: Portlandia, your 15 minutes are up. Long live Pittsburgh

… Portland has overextended its welcome as the destination for hipsters who want to find themselves, while frolicking in beautiful scenery and reasonable rents,” says Hesse. “Pittsburgh is reasonable-rents, nice scenery, nice downtown, and the people are, in general, just far less insufferable.”
As a born-and-raised Pittsburgher, I’ll go a step further. Portland, with its elaborate facial hair and abundance of strip clubs, represents irony. Pittsburgh, with its working-class pragmatism, is the opposite: earnest and straightforward. It’s a place where people drink cheap beer and wave their Terrible Towels without self-consciousness. Hipsters take faux working-class attributes —brusque beards, Pabst Blue Ribbon and occupations such as butchery — and integrate them into their lives with an ironic wink and a superiority complex. In Pittsburgh, you can find all of the above, only without the derision and affectation.
